Founded by Robin Halperin, rockinrobin is a high-end children’s belt and accessories company. Robin, who holds a master’s degree in design from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, has a long history as a costume designer and stylist for theatre and television. She spent many years as a costume designer on ABC’s “All My Children” before becoming the stylist for Kelly Ripa on “Live with Regis and Kelly”. When Robin gave birth to twins in 2001, she took some time off and has now come back to the fashion scene with rockinrobin.
The idea for the company was inspired by her, then, 5 year old daughter Samantha, whose favorite part of dress up was “mommy’s belts”. “It was a real challenge to find beautiful belts that were also beautifully made”, recalls Robin. “I knew I always wanted to start my own children’s company, but had not yet found the niche I was looking for. When Samantha started taking my belts and adding them to her princess outfits, the idea came to me!”
When the company launched in August 2007 it offered a small line of girl’s fashion leather belts. “The response was so overwhelmingly positive that we knew we were on to something. Within the first year, our popularity grew so much that we now have tripled our amount of belt styles (including a much asked for boys line), added multiple styles of leather bracelets and launched a new line of necklaces.”
